hi everyone . we are new to your rescue , having collected newspapers/bedding/towels/ raised funds for another rescue closer to home , we have found you , and reading everything on this site is how i see rescues should be run. so you,ve got us (oh dear ! ) we are now collecting newspapers for you and we usually collect 20 black bags full every 6 weeks , we will also collect bedding and everything else we get our hands on . but while i,m here can i tell you about a site called easy fundraising. so once you,ve joined and nominated second chance rescue as your charity everytime you are going to buy something via the net or reserve ( halfords argos etc) the company will donate a percentage of your cost to second chance ( you dont pay anymore ) ie , today i ordered a i pad from littlewoods catalogue , so instead of going straight to the catalogue i went via easyfundraising and ordered that way , and i raised nearly £8 . plus there are alot of free funds you can get from easyfundraising . so please take a look and join , its a great way of raising funds for second chance without actually doing anything . i,m currently crocheting blankets for the dogs nice and warm . see you in july with the first load of papers xxx

Hi everyone.
I came to the kennels today and must say how helpful you all were. You let me browse and were there to answer questions. The kennels are well kept and the animals in lovely surroundings. You were very helpful when I chose Lady the beagle from Ireland. You have a great service in preparing the dogs for their new homes. I pick Lady up on Wednesday and I would like to thank you for all you do for the dogs.

Hi I dropped some bedding and coats etc today. There is some food in the bottom of the bedding bag. Sorry forgot to say. How up to date are the dogs on your website, cos I was hoping to see a few that weren't there. Also have you considered going on Facebook, it is such a fab way to show people all the dogs, and give a day to day diary of all that you do. By the way I am a groomer if you want any thing groomed, I would do it for free if someone could hold them for me.

I have just been reading your home page about you receiving critisism for saving Irish Dogs.
My first thought was 'what the hell?'. I dont know who is harrassing you about this or why and I dont know the details of exactly what was said to make you feel you needed to defend your actiones this way. What I do know is that a responsible, caring rescue who keeps and cares for the dogs they take on whe ther they are adopted out or not should not be the target for a hate campaign against them! Do these people take a look at sites like Preloved, Gumtree, Pets 4 Homes or the Freeads??? No exaggeration, there are THOUSANDS of dogs for sale or (God Help Them) 'free to good home'. Raise awareness of dog fighting rings please! Why are they not targeting the back yard breeders who keep purposefuly breed more and more dogs for their own pocket? Why are they not targeting irresponsible owners who get bored when the cute puppy grows up and they cant be bothered with them? Or who dont want to fork out to spey and neuter their dogs and dump the pregnant bitch or chuck the pups in a river?
Out of all the evil in the world they could choose to mount a crusade against, they pick you guys? Are you f**king kidding me???
You do what you do and dont let anyone make you feel like you should offer to give up your rescue or change how you choose to help the desperate little souls who have no one but you.
You do the hard work, you raise the money, you save the lives.

hi, we got our beautiful staffy tia from you five years ago, she had obviously been treated really badly in her previous life and although she is still slightly nervy, she is the most perfect, loyal, loving dog ever!! we then added to our dog family a big daft english bull terrier nelson!, they both live in harmony with our ginger tom cat alfie, (i must stress that alfie is the boss), that dispells any bull terrier myths!! we shall be visiting you soon for our third dog, we live in a beautiful rural area of nottingham, my life is looking after my animals, we have a fabulous life waiting for a second chance dog. keep up the good work!! you are all truly amazing!!!!

Hi, I just wanted to say a big thank you for the work you do. I was lucky enough to adopt a fabulous bassett hound from you 4 years ago. He had arrived from Ireland the week before and was in a terrible state; I hate to think what would have happened to him if you hadn't rescued him. 4 years on and he is a happy healthy 11 year old who loves all the long walks we do and then enjoys curling up with my elderly cat in the warm. He is an absolute joy and we are honored to have him in our lifes. We will be bringing him back for a visit in the next couple of months because we intend adopting another dog from you. :-)
